As per some literature mentioned in the source, the LiDAR applications can be realized efficiently and cost-effectively with an integrated measuring system concept in the automotive sector. Submicron CMOS is often used for the manufacturing of such modules.
As per the AEC-Q100 standard, the CMOS process is automotive qualified. Semiconductor lasers are used in the LiDAR system as infrared light sources.
It is measured between 850 and 1000 nm of light wavelength and is characterized by high intensity and light sharpness. The bundling of the beams will be distinguished. The laser diodes are commercially available where the output power is in the range of 10 to 70W.
The laser protection class has to meet a specified requirement where the pulsed light signals have a maximum of 5mW of average power. The repetition rate of such a pulse is from 20 kHz to 100 kHz.
