In 2020, Zeekr was established as a subsidiary of Geely Automobile Holdings. It is a Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer. High-performance EVs are aimed for production by the company to leverage Geely’s expertise in the automotive industry.
Zeekr 001 is the first model to be unveiled in April 2021. The Zeekr 001 is a luxury electric sedan with advanced feature technology and high-performance components. The vehicle is launched with a range of up to 700 km (435 miles) on a single charge and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.8 seconds.
Zeekr plans to provide a subscription-based model for its vehicle to differentiate it from other EV manufacturers. The model also allows customers to subscribe to a vehicle for a fixed period and pay a monthly fee to cover the cost of the car, insurance, and maintenance.
Zeekr partnered with LG Chem for producing battery packs and with NVIDIA for developing its autonomous driving technology.
The new “X” electric SUV unveiled by Zeekr has a range of 348 miles and a low starting price of around $28,000. Zeekr X is aiming to take on Tesla in China before launching it in Europe.
As per Zeekr, “its new SUV transcends the limitations of all previous models named after 3, where X stands for infinite explorations, endless imagination, and endless transcendence.”
