Two systems or components have been described by interoperability specifications where working interaction can be engaged. Two IoT devices are examples. The focus is more on semantic interaction with a process that might focus on viewpoints like (1) information exchanges, (2) interactions, and (3) others.
The IoT devices that are connected via protocol with interoperability specification through network includes:
- The device capabilities can be described via semantic descriptions such as temperature measurement.
- The protocols can be described via semantic descriptions such as Wi-Fi for interactions.
- Protocol data units are described via semantic descriptions such as the Celsius data unit or exchanged information.
The benefits of semantic interoperability: —
- The interoperability specification has been improved with the quality of a systematic process that can be applied for interoperability definition.
- As a reference, the specification which resulted is used for interpreting the problem that can be solved. It is mainly used for further verification and validation where a formalized specification is available.
- The specifications can be maintained and extended more straightforwardly. The impact of the modification is difficult to assess in a textual specification of interoperability where a formalized specification is easier to do.
