Why not think of ways to use more eco-friendly materials in pandal construction? Pandals are temporary structures built to celebrate festivals and events in India.

If we go back to our traditions to celebrate the festivals, then we can say that pandals used to be built from materials such as bamboo and cloth, which are not very eco-friendly. As environmental awareness grows, more people are looking for greener options for pandal construction.

Eco-friendly materials are used to reduce the carbon footprint of temporary structures and promote sustainability.

Even though we saw the reuse of a lot of materials and the promotion of sustainable ways of life, But I would support and emphasize more the use of bamboo as a renewable resource for extensive harvesting to lead to better deforestation.

Even jute, hemp, or cotton cloth are major alternatives to synthetic materials and versatile fibers grown in India.

1. Coir: Coir, derived from coconut husks, is a versatile and sustainable material. It can be used for making ropes, mats, and even structural elements of pandals. Coir has a low environmental impact, as it is biodegradable and sourced from renewable coconut trees.

2. Straw and Hay: Straw and hay can be used to create rustic and eco-friendly pandal structures. They are lightweight, readily available, and biodegradable. These materials can be used for constructing walls, roofs, and decorative elements.

3. Recycled Paper: Paper-based materials made from recycled paper or cardboard can be an excellent choice for pandal construction. They are lightweight, easy to work with, and have a lower environmental impact compared to traditional construction materials.

4. Fabric: Using fabric or cloth for pandal construction can be a sustainable option. Fabrics made from natural fibers like cotton, jute, or hemp can be utilized for creating walls, ceilings, and decorative elements. They are renewable, biodegradable, and can add a unique texture to the pandal design.

5. Bamboo: Bamboo is a highly sustainable and versatile material that has been traditionally used in pandal construction. It is fast-growing, renewable, and has a high strength-to-weight ratio. Bamboo can be used for structural frames, pillars, and intricate designs.

6. Mud and Clay: Mud or clay can be used to create environmentally friendly pandals with an earthy appeal. These materials are abundant, easily available, and have a minimal environmental impact. Mud and clay structures can provide excellent insulation and help maintain a cooler environment inside the pandal.
