As per umwelt Bundesamt, the most important facts about renewable energies in Germany are:-
- The share of the use of renewable energies in electricity generation is steadily increasing. Even though the electricity demand fell significantly due to corona, a rise of 45.4% was seen in 2020.
- In the heating sector, the usage of renewable energies for heat consumption witnessed a significant rise of 15.2% in 2020 as compared to 15% in 2019.
- The sales of biofuels such as biodiesel/HVO also grew significantly in 2020. A significant rise in renewable energies from 5.6% to 7.3% in 2020.
- The EU’s first Renewable Energies Directive of 2009 target year was 2020. Across the different sectors, a commitment has been pledged to increase the share of renewable energies by 18%.
- However, in the current status, due to the corona effect, the share of renewable energies has increased to 19.3% significantly.
- Renewable energy contributed to climate protection in 2020 with 227 million metric tons of CO2 equivalent.
- The use of fossil fuels has been reduced by renewable energies and also the greenhouse gas emissions and air pollutants.
- In 2020, the overall installation of renewable energy increased to €11.0 billion. “The economic impetus from the operation of the plants also grew and currently amounts to 18.2 billion euros.”
