What do we know about KUKA?

A German manufacturer, known as KUKA of industrial robots and faction automation systems. It was founded in 1898. And the headquarter is in Augsburg, Germany. Peter Mohnen is the key CEO. The revenue recorded till 2017 is €3.5 billion.  

KUKA is an acronym for Keller und Knappich Augsburg. KUKA systems GmbH is a division of KUKA. In 2016, KUKA got owned by a Chinese company Midea Group with a 74.55%  voting stake in the company. It got 5 divisions:-

  • Systems
  • Robotics
  • Swisslog Logistic Automation
  • Swisslog Healthcare
  • China

In 1971, KUKA built the first welding transfer line for Daimler-Benz. The company provides applications in Aerospace, Automotive, Production of rail vehicles, photovoltaic modules, and welding technology.

KUKA formed a partnership with RoboCoaster Ltd in 2001. They developed the world’s first passenger-carrying industrial robot. Roller-coaster style seats are used in the ride and it is attached to robotic arms to provide a roller coaster motion sequence.

The products are classified under:-

  • Process technologies

They cater service to the automotive industry, e-commerce, and retail logistics, Electronics industry, healthcare, consumer goods industry, metal industry, and other industries.
