The international key player potential to be a threat to Chinese EV automakers are:-

  2. Brand recognition and reputation for cutting-edge technology and quality.
  3. Tesla’s commitment to the expansion of its product with more affordable models to a wider range of Chinese consumers.
  4. The supercharger network in China provides a competitive advantage.
  • Volkswagen Group:
  1. A significant investment in local manufacturing and electric vehicle production in China to compete effectively in terms of pricing.
  2. A diverse portfolio such as Volkswagen, Audi, and Porsche with a wide range of electric models catering to various segments and consumer preferences.

  3. A luxury automaker resonating well with Chinese consumers for premium electric vehicles.
  • Other established players:
  1. Nissan, Ford, and Hyundai also invested heavily in the Chinese EV market could pose a threat to domestic players.
  2. Partnerships: Collaboration with local Chinese automakers or technology companies can enhance the competitive position.

Foreign automakers have significant strengths to face the various challenges but the domestic players like NIO, BYD, and Xpeng got massive local loyalty and support.

However, the market is quite volatile, and the EV market is just the beginning, you just know when a sudden change is triggered and ends the race faster. Don’t forget the story of the Tortoise, slow and steady, wins the race.
