E-Waste Recycling Capacity
In Uttar Pradesh, the largest recycling capacity for e-waste is 624.2 thousand metric tons per year.

In Maharashtra, the number of authorized e-waste dismantlers and recyclers in India with 140 such facilities.
Composting Plants
India actively invested in composting infrastructure by the end of the financial year 2023, with 2,285 centralized waste-to-compost plants across the country.
73 more compost plants were under construction in 2023.
Overall Waste management
In the financial year 2023, India processed over 75% of the total waste generated in the country.
The recycling rates for different types of waste in India remain low relatively. Only 20% of plastic waste is recycled.
According to the waste explanation for each product: –
- E-waste of 33% in India was recycled in 2023.
- Plastic waste of only 20% was recycled in India. Hazardous waste of more than 30% year-on-year in the financial year 2022 in India.
