TomTom and Microsoft
A fully integrated, AI-powered conversational automotive assistant is developed with TomTom in partnership with Microsoft. The voice interaction is enhanced within the vehicle with an innovative assistant, to enable sophisticated control over infotainment, locations, and vehicle command systems.

The key features introduced in the next-gen AI for in-vehicle experiences:-
- Natural Language interaction with the generative AI to allow drivers to communicate with cars using natural-speaking phrases. Prompts or memorization for intuitive voice commands.
- Voice control is expanded beyond basic tasks such as calling or texting, and navigating for specific locations for finding stops along routes and controlling onboard systems. The temperature is adjusted with open windows, or changing radio stations with a single voice interaction.
- Safety and Focus with voice controls to keep your eyes on the road by reducing distractions. TomTom and Microsoft promise to extend the traditional manual tasks such as adjusting air conditioning and heat.
The major implementation is the use of generative AI experience, launching in TomTom’s Digital Cockpit, an open, modular in-vehicle infotainment platform. An off-the-shelf product with TomTom aiming to work with vehicle manufacturers for branded versions.
In my opinion, TomTom’s generative AI provides a new level of convenience, safety, and natural interaction for connected vehicles.
