TATA, the name says it all, is a trademark in every sector and is known for its wide variety of industrial investments, from garments to gold, charities to hospitals, and even automobiles.
TATA nano to acquiring one of the luxury brands Jaguar, an automotive market, TATA is eagerly to conquer and not just in the home country but also globally.
In the electric car segments, the latest trends, and the most futuristic concept, the sector is bombarded with its new products one after the other, plans for battery cell manufacturing as well as launching its charging stations.
TATA Curvv concept- It is a mid-size electric SUV with LED light running across the front side of the vehicle. The car is designed powerfully with a powertrain for increased range with new features to support the driver. The price is Rs.20 lakhs.
TATA Nexon EV long-Range- It is also a mid-size SUV and the updated version is expected to be designed with a bigger battery pack with a range of 400 km per charge. The interior and exterior of the vehicle will also get upgraded. It uses the Ziptron EV powertrain technology.
TATA Tigor EV long-Range- It got launched in 2021 with an upgraded interior and exterior. It is expected to be launched with a range of 370 km to 400 km. The specifications are similar to Nexon EV. It comes with a 26 kWh battery for a range of 306 km.
TATA Sierra EV- The vehicle got launched at the 2020 Auto expo and is expected to be in the market by 2025. The vehicle is expected to be with the Sigma platform based on the ALFA platform.
TATA Altroz EV- The vehicle was showcased first at the Geneva Motor show in 2019. It is a hatchback concept with a similar powertrain to Nexon EV and looks similar to the ICE version.
TATA Punch EV- The cheapest vehicle model is expected to be launched in 2022. It falls into the category of micro SUVs. The similar Ziptron powertrain technology as in Nexon EV. The electric motor used 30.2kWh lithium-ion battery pack powering a 129bhp with an electric motor mounted on the front axle. On a single charge, the EV offers 312 km. The power and torque outputs stand at 100PS and 200NM.
TATA Coupe SUV EV- The EV is based on the same X1 platform as the Nexon. It will be the first pure electric SUV vehicle with a 40kWh battery pack covering over 400kms range.
As of now, the EV market in India is rising and the customers are eagerly awaiting it. Audi e-Tron is already available in the Indian market. Tesla is one of the EV been eagerly awaited in the Indian market but with the current manufacturing plant in China and the concept of selling the EV from china to India is not welcomed as stated by Nitin Gadkari.
So, it’s up to Elon Musk, how he is going to solve the issues. Does he think India is a profitable market? Is he interested to expand its manufacturing hub in India also? Or is he going to enter the Indian market as in the retail market avenue by a partnership or individually by transporting the vehicle to Indian ports from western hubs? Is still uncertain?
